In the last year or so, it seems like vegan food and vegan-friendly products have become a huge trend. Whether you are new to the vegan lifestyle or someone who has been vegan for many years, you may still find it difficult to figure out which beauty brands and products are cruelty-free and vegan. Today’s post is going to be all about brands and products that are proud to be vegan and free from any kind of animal cruelty.
These products may also appeal to people who may not consider themselves vegan but are very conscious about using cruelty-free products. In this case, you may be wondering what exactly the vegan lifestyle entails. Before we talk about the vegan products I’ll briefly introduce you to the vegan lifestyle.
What Is Veganism?
Lots of people confuse being vegan with being vegetarian, but these lifestyles are not quite the same. Vegetarians do not eat meat, but they are usually fine with eating animal products like eggs and dairy. Vegans not only refuse to eat meat, but they also do not eat or use anything with animal by-products. This means vegan food cannot contain dairy, eggs, gelatin or honey. It also means no beauty products that contain any animal-derived ingredients, no clothing with fur or leather and nothing that is tested on animals.
Now that you know what the vegan lifestyle is all about, let’s talk about some beauty products that vegans can feel good about using.
Vegan and Cruelty-Free Beauty Product Options
The first brand I’m going to mention is called I’m From. They offer several great products that are cruelty-free and a great option for vegans.
I’m From Vitamin Tree Water Gel is the first product I want to recommend. It’s one of my favorites, especially for warmer weather. It’s a creamy, luxurious gel moisturizer that contains over 70 percent vitamin tree tea as well as other natural, plant-derived moisturizing and brightening ingredients. Vitamin tree is better known as sea buckthorn, which is an extremely beneficial ingredient to all skin types. It contains an amazing amount of antioxidants and is also rich in vitamins E and C, which helps to soothe and repair stressed skin. Regular use of this moisturizer will give you plump, bright and healthy skin.
I love to use this gel alongside the I’m From Vitamin Tree Mask at least once a week. This thick, creamy mask is over 50 percent sea buckthorn tea and contains detoxifying ingredients as well as crushed vitamin tree leaves to help purify and calm your skin.
If your pores need some extra care, I’m From also carries a volcanic clay mask. The I’m From Volcanic Mask is made with pure, Jeju volcanic clay to help cool your skin while removing excess sebum and tightening your pores. Jeju volcanic clay also contains many natural minerals to help purify your skin. This mask, like the Vitamin Tree Mask, also uses plant-derived ingredients to deliver whitening antioxidants. Because clay masks are more intense than most other washoff masks, it is a good idea to follow up a clay mask with a layer of moisture, like the I’m From Vitamin Tree Water Gel.
The second brand that you may not have realized offered vegan-friendly products is Klairs. If you love this brand, you can actually build a very effective and cruelty-free routine using only Klairs products.
For cleansing, Klairs actually offers a few different options. To try them all, I would recommend the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Kit. This kit includes three steps: a cleansing oil, a gentle face polish and a charcoal soap.
First, the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil contains a blend of natural, plant-derived oils like black bean, black sesame and black currant seed to deliver a deep, thorough cleanse. The formula is also hypo-allergenic, so it is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types. Each of the oils it uses work to balance, soothe and strengthen your skin while it removes makeup and impurities.
The second step is the Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap. This bar soap is free of preservatives, fragrance and surfactants, which means it is completely natural and gentle on your skin. The charcoal will help to eliminate dead skin and skin waste, while organic Moroccan ghassoul will help control sebum. It also contains natural glycerin to provide hydration and natural glycolic acid from the sugar to keep your skin soft and bright.
The final product in the Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Kit is the Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish. This scrub contains black sugar, shea butter, cranberry oil and licorice root to gently exfoliate away dead skin and pore clogs. If your skin is extra sensitive, combine a scoop of scrub with a pump of the Black Deep Cleansing Oil for an even gentler polish.
Klairs also offers a hydrating vitamin C serum, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum. It provides a non-irritating, brightening option for vegans. It contains 5 percent ascorbic acid, which not only brightens your skin, but also helps to make your skin more resilient and resistant to UV damage. This serum is unique because it also contains soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients like centella asiatica, broccoli extract and green tea.
Finally, to seal in all of the goodness, you can use Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream. It is best suited for normal or dry skin and provides cruelty-free, long-lasting hydration and protection for your skin. The cream is made with beta-glucan, which supports your skin’s natural ability to protect and nourish itself. It also helps to soothe dry, sensitive or irritated skin with ingredients like chamomile, jojoba, ceramide 3 and chlorphenesin.
If you’re following the new, hot trend of the vegan lifestyle, all of these beauty products are excellent, high-quality options that are cruelty-free.
