Summer is almost here ladies! For us on the Northern hemisphere, we are starting to really feel that warm weather which means our skin will start to change! Warmer weather makes our bodies switch gears, making us feel less likely to reach for comfort foods, and more likely to reach for salads and fruits. Yet, not only does the warm weather affect our food cravings, it also makes our skin change, and drastically!
Warmer weather can stimulate our skin, causing the pores on our face to naturally open just a little more, causing our oil production to boost. This leads to those classic oil summer faces we all know too well. Making it easier for our skin to get clogged pores from excess oil, and acne breakouts. So how do we combat this? By switching from our fall & winter skincare, to our spring & summer skincare! It’s time to pass up on the heavy moisturizing creams and check out some new summer skincare trend that you need to start using asap to keep your skin looking healthy this summer season!
NEW SUMMER SKINCARE TRENDS
ROSES, ROSES, ROSES!
If you’ve always been in the skincare game, then you might be thinking roses aren’t new! But boy are roses taking on a whole new approach! The world is going gaga over rose infused skincare all over again! Not just the use of rose water as a gentle toner, but you can now find it as a featured ingredient in skin hydrating serums, creams, mists and lotions! If you haven’t given roses a chance, you might want to consider trying it out. Roses water when used on the skin provide anti-inflammatory benefits, which can help with some types of acne, rosacea, eczema and more. Aside from that, rose water can also help a little bit to control excess oil production which can lead to clogged pores. The big bonus? It also contains antioxidants to help slow down skin aging! This is one summer skincare trend you need to try out!
BHA is taking the global market by storm! However, it might not always be marketed as BHA but instead as just a “skin exfoliator”, but if you take a look at the ingredients, you will see Salicylic acid as the key ingredient. This spring and summer skincare trends are busting out skin exfoliators and we love seeing this! If you have been in the Korean skincare game prior, then you might be well versed in the world of liquid skin exfoliators such as BHA & AHA, but the western market is picking up on the trend and making it big this summer. BHA skin exfoliators are a great addition to the summer skincare trends this year, as BHA does not make the skin much more susceptible to the harmful rays of the sun, making it the best summer skincare addition to help unclog pores, control oil, fight acne and get you on the path to clear skin!
PROTECTION TO PERFECTION!
Now… this really shouldn’t be a new trend, but in certain parts of the world, the use of SPF on the face isn’t nearly pushed as much as it should be, however this year in summer skincare trends we are seeing a huge increase in the amount of brands launching SPF for the face! If you don’t already know, no matter where you live in the world, what weather condition it is or what season it is, the sun causes 90%+ of skin aging! So if you want to stay younger looking for longer, be sure you always use an SPF for the face everyday with at least a power of SPF 40+. Thankfully, we are seeing this as one of the biggest summer skincare trends this year! This is one trend you 100% do not want to skip out of! If you are concerned about missing out on your summer tan, don’t worry, you will still slowly tan through SPF depending on your skin type. If not, then hope on the spray tan wagon as at home self tanners is one of the biggest markets these days!
Even though it’s summer and we generally want to avoid too much oil on the skin, the glossy glow is still one of the top summer skincare trends. But it’s important you look like you are glowing, and not like you’re oily. This spring and summer season, we are seeing brands launching loads of hydrating serums and lotions to give your skin that healthy “quenched” glow without the oily effect. So if you want your skin to naturally glow from within this summer, grab yourself a hydrating serum or lotion! They not only will keep your skin healthy this summer, but also keep you looking fresher than ever.
So, what summer skincare trends will you be adding to your upcoming spring and summer routine change up? I know I for one will be adding a little more rose into my routine!
