Didn’t you guys always wonder what the differences were between an essence, a serum, and an ampule? Well, I sure did! So today, I wanted to tell you guys the differences on that Korean skin care products and also functions of these 3!
First the similarities
So in simple words, an essence, a serum, and an ampule can all be used for the basic skin care steps. They hold 2-3 nourishing ingredients to focus on taking care of certain skin problems that you may have. Usually it’s used after toner and before lotion or cream. All 3 products’ textures are more watery than lotion or cream’s texture so it feels lighter to put it on before lotion or cream that feels like it has more oil in it. It has many different functions such as moisturizing, whitening, wrinkle care, elasticity, and nourishing so it is better to enrichment of the problems that we might have for our skin than just lotion or cream.
First, essence is the product that most lightly enriched an ingredient. Like “Essence Lotion” and “Essence Mask,” sometimes it comes out with other products combined. And because of its’ watery texture, it’s also called, “Treatment Water”. For example, if you want to brighten your tone then you need to choose an essence that’s for whitening and brightening. If you are worried about the elasticity of your skin, then choose an essence with words like lifting, anti-wrinkle, tightening, and anti-aging. Recently, there are products that has 2-3 ingredients in one for with these products you can take care of many of your worries for your skin. Booster, First Essence, Perfecting Essence are all types of essence. Booster and First Essence are used before the step of toner so that it can help whatever for the product that you put on afterwards to soak in better.
This is an amazing essence for whitening and anti-aging. I like light textures for especially toners and essences. The texture of this product is really light and fresh. At night time, I soak the essence in cotton buds and put it on top of my face for about 3-5minutes and does the job of a simple face pack also. I couldn’t tell right off the bat but after about 2 weeks, I saw that my face had become brighter and I felt like my skin felt more tightened! So don’t stop and continue using it for a few weeks to see results. You can use it in the morning and night time and I suggest that you put it in the fridge to keep it cool so that it can also help to calming your skin.
Serum and Essence have almost the same concept. But Serum makes the concentration of the ingredient a little bit thicker so it has a stronger image of a product that focuses on your needs of your skin. Usually, it has high viscosity than essence and has ingredients that are sensitive to heat or light so it’s usually in shaded bottles.
This product is already loved by so many people and especially the repurchase rate is really high. It’s also called the #1 Whitening Serum. If you are worried about your blemishes, this is a great product! It helps with skin pigmentation and blemishes excellently. It helps with your uneven skin tone and also nourishes and rejuvenates your skin. Usually other serums with Vitamin C is sticky and feels kinda iffy after you put it on, but this improved serum soaks well into your skin and feel really light afterwards. It’s really important to keep the bottle in the fridge because the main ingredient which is Vitamin C is sensitive to light and heat. You can use it during the day time but please don’t forget to put on sun cream.
Usually an ample has an ingredient for a specific function and it is the highest concentration so that you can see the fastest effect in a short time. So it may come in smaller sizes and might be more expensive than an essence or a serum. It may be packaged and divided into small bottles or it usually comes with a spoiler to easily get the liquid on to your skin. You can only mix it with the lotion or cream that you use.
This is a great product for people with sensitive skin or acne prone skin types to use. It’s a ampule to heal your skin from your pimples and also blemishes. This product has Centella Asiantica Leaf Water which is an ingredient used as a medicinal herb in scientifically oriented medicine. Not only is it good for our troubled skin but it improves skin elasticity and also minimizes pores! When you put it on it’s really light and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky at all.
I’ve introduce this ampule before in a video. It’s a great ampule for moisturizing. It has 80% of pure all-natural propolis extract in it. I personally love the ingredient Propolis, not only for my skin but for my throat and health! It’s really great for moisturizing and improving not just your skin tone but the texture as well. I want to recommend it for those of your with dry skin types or also sensitive skin or all skin types that feel like they need a good product for moisturizing. It can be used in the morning and night time.
All 3 products that I’ve mention soaks in really fast to your skin so it’s better not to put it on the palm of your hands but to put it on directly to your face or on the tip of your fingers. And all 3 products is not a mandatory product that you must have for a skin care step. Depending on your skin worries or problems, you may use it or not use it.
I hope this article helped! Because it was something that I always asked myself! I really couldn’t see the difference with my eyes and I didn’t know if I had to get all 3 or if I didn’t need it! I hope that this really helped!
