How to Get Rid Of a Sun Burn Fast
Sunburn is one of the worst things that can happen to you in the summer. Nobody likes being hot, itchy and uncomfortable while also looking like a lobster. It’s awful, right? Unfortunately, even the most diligent of SPF users are bound to get a sunburn every once in awhile.

The good news is that there are ways to help heal that sunburn quickly and safely! Today I’m going to let you in on a few beauty secrets that I’ve learned to help fade sunburn and get your skin back to being beautiful and healthy as fast as possible.

1. Pure Aloe Vera

Of course, getting aloe vera fresh from the leaves of an aloe plant is the best, but even if you don’t have an aloe plant, this trick can still work. Any container of aloe vera gel will work as long as it is pure and doesn’t have any kind of alcohol in it. Products with alcohol may feel cooling and soothing for a few minutes, but once it evaporates it will leave your skin drier and more itchy than before.

Aloe vera is soothing, and because it absorbs into your skin quickly, you don’t have to worry about your skin getting greasy or having an uncomfortable film left behind. This will help to replenish some of the moisture your skin has lost while also providing relief from some of the itching. If you don’t have time to go out and buy aloe vera, you can also use bamboo or cactus gel for a similar effect.

For extra cooling and pain relief, keep your aloe gel in the refrigerator!

2. Mint and Green Tea

Whether you’re eating it, drinking it or using it as skincare, peppermint is very cooling and refreshing. Making a compress with a mixture of green tea and peppermint tea is a great way to draw out some of the heat from your burn. Green tea also contains lots of antioxidants and compounds called tannins that can help your skin heal faster while also reducing inflammation and redness.

To do this, it is best to steep your teas double strength. Since you won’t be drinking the tea, it’s okay to make it very strong. Be sure to let it cool down completely before you use it though. Hot tea on a sunburn will just make it feel worse!

Once the tea is cooled, soak a soft washcloth or a strip of old t-shirt in the liquid and place it on the burned area. If your face is sunburnt, you can even use a dry sheet mask tablet and make your own sunburn sheet mask!

3. Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream

Now that we’ve talked about a couple of simple DIY methods, it’s time to turn to your skincare collection. Sunburn not only damages your topmost layer of skin, but it also damages your moisture barrier. This means that you skin will be more sensitive and in need of moisture than usual.

To help repair your damaged moisture barrier while soothing away the redness, use Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream. It contains beta-glucan, which is an important, nourishing ingredient that helps strengthen your moisture barrier and allows your skin to repair itself faster. It also contains other great ingredients that are effective for calming and hydrating your skin, like jojoba oil, ceramides, broccoli extract, aloe, centella asiatica and beeswax. You only need a thin layer of product to cover your burns, so a little goes a long way.

4. Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

This product is my all-time favorite any time my skin is overly stressed or irritated. It has been specially formulated by the company to work for extremely sensitive skin. Though the tub is small, the product is very spreadable, so you need very little for a large area.

It contains a compound called guiazulene, which I’ve talked about in a few of my other posts. It comes from the oil of the chamomile plant, which is a deep violet color. When mixed with the cream’s other ingredients, it gives the product a light, cornflower-blue color. It does not make your skin blue, though, so don’t worry! Guiazulene has been shown in studies to help regenerate damaged tissue. In fact, it is a primary ingredient in many Japanese burn ointments. The cream will form a thin, protective layer over your skin that heals while keeping it safe from exposure to outside elements.

If you want to get rid of your sunburn fast, just follow these tips and you’ll be back to having glowy, healthy skin in no time!
