It’s Bronwyn here today with some tips for healthy winter beauty habits. These are habits you should get into every winter season that will not only keep your body healthy, but also your skin looking healthy and glamorous.
Why Winter Beauty Habits?
Depending on where you live, winter can be the coldest and driest time of year. Usually during the winter time in cold climates, we tend to stay inside where the air is very dry and we usually crave fatty unhealthy foods. All these factors take a toll on our body and skin.
Healthy Body Tips
Avoid heavy foods
Try sticking to a summer diet this winter season. I personally know this can be very hard, but summer diets generally are filled with fruits and veggies that are full of vitamins and minerals. Having a winter diet full of fruits and veggies will keep the bodies immune system and your metabolism in peak condition. Making weight loss and maintaining your ideal body weight that much easier! Plus, it is important we keep our immune systems strong during the winter when cold and flu seasons are at their highest.
Try eating foods and dishes that contain:
- Mixed Nuts
- Sweet Potatoes
- Chicken breast
These foods contains a vast variety of nutrients that will keep your body in shape during the winter. Try to stay away from carbs such as white breads, white rice, white pastas and heavy cream base dishes.
Healthy Beauty Tips
Create a winter skincare routine
I was always surprised when I discovered many individuals use their same routine from the summer in the winter. You always knew someone did not have a good routine for the winter when their skin would appear very dull, dry and show fine dehydration lines.
It is very very important we change our routines when the seasons change. Just like the changing seasons, our skin also changes. In the winter, skin becomes drier, tighter and more dull when not properly cared for. So how about looking fabulous this holiday season with some skincare winter beauty habits.
Have a winter skincare routine that includes:
- Hydrating toner
- Hydrating liquid
- Hydrating serum
- Skin brightening & antioxidant serum
- Day cream / Sun cream
- Night cream
- Treatment Mask Sheet
Of course the routine you end up with is also dependant on your skin type, but I guarentee if you include these types of items in your winter skincare routine, your skin will look better then ever!
This toner is not your average astringent toner. It wipes away excess dirt while closing pores and delivering Hyaluronic Acid into the skin for deep hydration to erase fine lines.
This liquid essence is a life saver for skin that feels tight and shows fine lines. Its rich in Hyaluronic acid, which pulls in and hold 1000 times it’s own weight in water. Making your kin plump, moist and looking young and fresh!
This serum is rich in hydrating and moisture locking ingredients. Once again, rich in hyaluronic acid, and other hydrating and moisture retaining ingredients, this serum will calm dry and tired looking skin while sealing away moisture.
This serum is rich with vitamin c and other plant extracts and antioxidant ingredients. It makes the skin more healthy, brightens and protects for healthy glowing skin. If you want a more flawless and healthy looking complexion this winter, then give this a try!
Jojoba oil is the only oil in nature that is the closest in cellular structure to human skin oil. Add a couple drops to your daily moisturizer or foundation to add a skin repairing factor! Jojoba oil, repairs dry and damaged skin cells and it also tricks the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil, making it even ideal for those with oily and acne prone skin! Give your skin the protective barrier it needs this winter, you will be thankful you did.
Everyone seems to forget that UV rays cause 90% + of skin aging and wrinkles. And they also seem to forget that UV rays are just as strong in the winter as in the summer. Especially if there is snow on the ground where these rays are reflected off the snow and back onto your skin from both above and bellow. So in the winter, make sure to use a sun cream every day you plan to leave your home. I recommend the COSRX sun cream because it provides the perfect amount of moisture during the day that is gentle and non-irritating, has no white case and sit beautifully under makeup.
Using a night cream will make a world of different not only in the winter time but all year round. Our skin naturally repairs itself during the night, especially after 10pm. Use a cream that is very rich and full of healing and repairing ingredients such as this honey cream. Natural honey is not only great for eating but it works wonders for the skin. Once you start using honey products you will never go back!
Try using sheet masks! These mini at home treatments deliver deep hydration and moisture to the skin, locking in your skincare products for the perfect at home spa session! Use it before your night cream and you will be wonder why you haven’t used sheet masks before!
And those are my tips for healthy winter beauty habits you should start this winter season!
Trust me, once you try these healthy foods and healthy skincare products, you will never go back to not having winter beauty habits :)
