Hi everyone! It’s Bronwyn here today with another product review!
Todays review is on a very popular BHA product from COSRX that has been getting a lot of positive feedback from bloggers for its pimple fighting, skin brightening effects and the ability to get rid of clogged pores.
So I wanted to put this product to the test to see if it truly is worth the hype.
BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Claims
The COSRX BHA Power Liquid claims to provide the skin with the following benefits:
- Exfoliates to prevent blackheads
- Brightens and whitens the skin for a more even tone
- Fights and prevents acne pimples
- Creates soft and smooth skin
- Gets rid of clogged pores
COSRX is a Korean brand that specialized in ingredient specific items. Focusing on providing products that target certain skincare concerns while using only key ingredients.
The BHA Power Liquid focuses on mainly containing BHA ingredients with minimal fillers added.
Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Water, Butylene Glycol, Betaine Salicylate, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Arginine, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol
As you can see, the ingredients list is quite small, focusing on only what is needed to maintain the product while providing the key ingredients.
The BHA Blackhead Power Liquid comes in a thick plastic pump bottle. I must admit, the overall packaging is not the more visually appealing to the eye or the most lovely looking on your skincare vanity. However it is fairly durable.
The pump to the bottle is a bit on the short side, you will notice you cannot simply press the pump to deliver the product into your hand without having to tilt the bottle on an angle. Otherwise, you will end up pumping the product and getting it all down the side of the bottle. This isn’t a huge fault, just slightly inconvenient.
The fact that the bottle is clear is excellent as you can see when you are getting low and know when to repurchase if you choose to.
I have been testing the product for 4 weeks now (1 month), to see how I felt about the product and the formula as well as how my skin reacted.
The BHA Blackhead Power Liquid is a liquid formula similar to a lotion but not quite as thin as a toner. It glides over the skin very smoothly and easily. I did notice that the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid leaves a sort of “dry oil” texture on the skin. This was a feature I was not a big fan of, as it made it not ideal for day time use. However you probably should not use a BHA during the day time unless you are wearing a high SPF.
I noticed the BHA did not feel very nice on the skin. The “dry oil” texture did not soak into the skin and gave almost a pore clogging feeling. As if my skin could not breath. This was surprising to me as I have used multiple AHA and BHA products in the past.
I used the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid in the order of:
- BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
I found layer my cream overtop made it feel like the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid could absorb into the skin a bit more easily. Or at least it felt that way.
Over the span of 4 weeks, I noticed my skin did some very mild purging. Meaning I developed a few small breakouts before my skin started to see results with less clogged pores. My breakouts were very small since I had previously been using the OST C21.5 Serum. Which left my skin in a quite a good condition.
I didn’t “feel” like the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid provided me with any dramatic results or big improvements in my scars during the use. However, looking at the before and after photos I took, I truly can see the difference! Which tells me this product is one that provides long-term results. I did noticed I stopped developing my usual flat closed, deep under the skin commodes. I also have less clogged pores and stopped developing as many blackheads on my inner cheeks & in the T-zone area. I regularly have blackheads all over my nose, but when using the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid, the return rate of my blackheads had drastically slowed down. Meaning I no longer have to extract my blackheads as frequently.
I didn’t see FAST results like I was expecting for acne scar and pigment clearing. But this product did delivery in the end and delivered on preventing blackheads and fighting against future acne. I am not a huge fan of the texture, but the results were pleasant.
Have you tried the BHA Blackhead Power Liquid?
If so what were your results?
