So without further a-do, let’s hop into this Korean acne skincare routine for back to school!
Good Morning Sunshine!
With the upcoming school season upon us, it’s time to get back into a healthy morning routine if you have fallen out of your’s this summer season. A healthy morning routine is the first step to reducing acne, so the first thing I recommend you do when you get out of bed, it wash your face! However instead of reaching for that heavy foam cleanser, opt in for a toner or micellar water. In the mornings, our skin generally has minimal to no dirt or dead skin cells on it, and above all definitely should not have makeup on it! Realistically all you need to do is lightly freshen your skin and using a gentle cleansing toner or micellar water is all your skin needs to freshen up in the morning. This allows the skin to maintain it’s natural barrier that protects itself throughout the day from acne causing bacteria.
Simple Morning Care
After your light freshen up, follow up with a simple morning routine for acne. Use a light hydrating serum to maintain the water levels in your skin throughout the day, allowing existing acne the ability to heal while maintain a moisture barrier to prevent acne bacteria from entering the skin. Depending on your skin type, either move right onto sun protection & makeup, or follow up with a day cream then add sun protection and makeup. When you have acne prone skin, its still important your keep your skin hydrated and full of moisture, as I mentioned before, maintaining moisture levels keeps the skin protected against acne. Not only that, but using sun protection also will help reduce the severity of acne scars and marks! So be sure to use a gentle hydrating spf everyday!
TRY: Zymogen Ferment Houttuynia Cordata Extract Serum (Hydrating serum for acne), Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream (Lightweight moisturizer for sensitive skin), Klairs Mid Day Blue Sun Lotion (Light hydrating SPF for sensitive skin)
Okay, so your daytime back to school skincare is done! Next it’s time to wakeup that body with a warm cup of lemon water! Lemon water alkalizes the body which helps naturally balance out the body’s pH levels. In turn this helps reduce acne and inflammation, while boosting the immune system and metabolism! Sounds like a lot but trust me, this small life style change will make a world of difference for not only your overall health, but your acne!
After School Refresh
After a long day at school, the first thing you should always do is remove your makeup! Of course only if you know you will be home for the rest of the night. The number 1 thing in an acne skincare routine is always how to treat your skin at night, so pay close attention to this little evening skincare routine for acne!
Firs thing first is properly removing that makeup, and you sure can bet you can pass on those makeup wipes as they can be the most irritating and ineffective cleansing of the skin! Instead opt in for a 2-step oil cleansing routine. Oh yes you read that right, oil cleansing is acne one of the best things you can do for acne prone skin. When using a proper oil cleanser, when applied to the skin and makeup, the oils naturally break down makeup, dirt and oil and lift it all out of the pores onto the surface of the skin. Then you can simply rinse away all that grime from the day, amazing right?! However you can’t stop there, as you want to follow up with a second cleanse with a gentle foaming wash. This makes sure that all the oil is out of the pores and off the skin, just to be safe. You can even step it up a notch by using a gentle cleansing brush or konjac sponge to lightly exfoliate away any dead skin cells.
Now that your skin is perfectly cleansed, follow up with the toner of choice from your morning routine mentioned previously. Once you have toned the skin, it is now ready for your acne treatment skincare to have your skin on point for back to school!
Simple Evening Acne Treatment
I recommend keeping this routine simple for back to school, focus on your treatments and moisture. I recommend using a BHA product to help keep pores clear from acne bacteria and oil build up. BHA is an amazing globally loved skincare ingredient for fighting acne. Use BHA is you have pimples that are deep under the skin. If you have surface acne pimple that make your skin bumpy and have a rough texture, then try using AHA instead as it exfoliates and keeps the surface layer clear and healthy. Next make sure to hydrate the skin as BHA & AHA products can dry it out. Hydration is key to maintaining healthy glowing skin. With acne prone skin, be sure to hydrate with gentle and lightweight products. Then follow up with a cream that will not only provide moisture but also treat acne at the same time. I recommend using a honey cream as honey extracts reduce inflammation and fight against acne bacteria while keeping the skin moisturized!
And there you have it! An entire back to school skincare routine for acne prone skin to get your school year started off the right way! I hope this simple Korean skincare routine for acne could help educate and lead you into the right direction of acne treatment for this upcoming school year! Remember loves, acne treatment takes time and dedication and with the right routine, your skin will be back on track in no time!
Good luck! xoxo
