3 Different Types of Enlarged Pores

Hey guys, it’s me Eunice. These days, I’ve noticed that my pores are getting more visible so I’ve been really focusing on how to make my pores smaller.

Did you guys know that depending on your age and different causes, your pore shapes can be different? Isn’t that weird and oddly interesting?

There are 3 different types of pore shapes, the O,U, and Y shapes. Let me explain each one for you guys! Before we get to that, I thought it would be important to clear the small stuff out like what are pores exactly?

What Are Pores?

Pores are a hole where your hair grows. It is about 0.02-0,05mm. It excesses sebum to keep your skin moisturized. BUT due to different reasons, they enlarge and THAT does not look good.

There are many reasons why you have enlarged pores,

  1. because it’s effected by your hormones
  2. wrong way of cleansing
  3. extremely dry environmental issues
  4. and sadly, it enlarges as we age

During our adolescence, because our sebaceous glands are more active, we break out a lot and as we grow older, our sebaceous glands become less active and that’s why our skin becomes dry and even itchy at times because of the dryness.

So that’s why it’s very important to take care our pores depending on your age! The O,U,Y shaped pores have to be taken care of differently is due to different causes.

3 Different Types of Enlarged Pores

O shape

First, the O shape is caused by hormones. And this includes oily skin types as well. If you have O shaped pores. It could mean that your pores have already enlarged during your adolescence because it was effected by your adolescent hormones. Or because of hormones, it may have caused excess sebum, and the sebum clogged up in your pores and it couldn’t’ get out so your pores enlarged.  And a fraction of it was led to infections and acne which also caused your pores to enlarge. In this case, even if you take care of your pores regularly, you are likely to have excess sebum and a lot of blackheads.

U shape

Second, is the U shaped pores that is caused by dryness and lack of elasticity. This can start before and after you turn 25 when your skin starts aging. You will be able to see and notice your pores enlarging. Your skin starts lacking elasticity and you will start seeing wrinkles. Your skin will feel dry and it will seem rough most of the time. The U shape will look long like it’s sagging or being stretched.

Y shape

Last is the Y shaped pores. If you have Y shape pores, we need intensive elasticity care with lifting products and products with rich-moisture in them. Try to avoid exfoliating with an exfoliating product or a scrub. Use a rich moisturizing product to loosen your dead skin cells and gently wipe them away.

Other quick tips I want to give you is that, if you go to the sauna often or use hot water to wash your face, it is not good for the elasticity of your skin. Remember to rinse your face with cold water at the end of your cleansing for elasticity.

There are a few products I wanted to share today that has been helping me to take good care of my enlarged pores.

Step1, Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil
Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish
Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap

One tip I want to add is to mix 1:1 ratio of the cleansing oil and black sugar scrub together. Melt the scrub well and put it on your face. It makes it more soft and also it makes it easier to get the scrub off of your face when you want to rinse it out. Make sure when you are using the soap too, make rich bubbles and then put it on your face. Make sure you make the bubbles first in your hands and then put it on your face to make sure to not irritate your face. This amazing kit will support to deep cleanse, exfoliate, and take care of your pores.
